ATTENTION SHERLOCK FANDOM!
Hello! My name is Carolina and I’m a Literature major currently working on an oral presentation about modern adaptations of earlier literary works. One of the examples we chose is the show Sherlock, and since there is such a big fanbase for this show in Tumblr I thought it would be a good idea to conduct an online survey to further our research.
The survey is completely anonymous and made up mostly of multiple choice questions, all very easy to answer. We need to obtain at least 50 replies to draw any sort of conclusion, so please answer if you can. The only requirement is having watched the show; if you think you can’t answer one of the questions, you can simply skip it. However, please try to answer them all honestly. It will take you only a few minutes and my research group and I really appreciate your help.

Okay, I honestly really hate asking people for money, but I’m really concerned about my mom and my family.
It’s kind of a long and complicated story, so I’ll try to keep it brief. Basically, my mom and I attempted to help a friend while we were in Oregon by moving in with him to take care of his elderly mother. They both turned out to be emotionally manipulative and psychologically abusive (albeit in completely different ways from each other). There was physical abuse in the case of the mother, as well (though she is now bedridden).
I was able to move away when I came back to California to go to college, but my mom is still stuck there. The “friend” was supposed to be paying her as a live-in caregiver, but he never did, and it’s virtually impossible for her to find a different job in the area because it’s such a small town. To make matters worse, my mom suffers from depression, which she’s completely unable to treat right now, and which is being dangerously exacerbated by her situation. My mom is one hell of a fighter, but this, paired with a series of unfortunate events, is breaking her down, and we need to get her out.
We doing our very best to get her out by the holidays. Preferrably by early-to-mid-November, because otherwise she’ll have to wait until after winter to drive down safely. I don’t know what will happen to her emotionally if she has to spend another Christmas stuck up there (there is no effort made by anyone but her to celebrate the holidays). I don’t like to think about it.
Furthermore, my grandparents and I need the extra help she really wants to give us. My great-grandmother is 93 and has a bad heart, my grandmother needs surgery on her hip and her eyes, and though I live with them as a caregiver, I also have school. Having an extra person to pitch in with even simple things like housework or errands is going to make a world of difference and I know that being with us is going to help my mom, too. My mother has been working her ass off trying to sell nearly everything she owns but it just isn’t enough. So I’m asking for your help to bring her home.
In addition to this, my mom will also need a little assistance getting into a permanent place to live nearby. I have permission to live with my grandparents in a 55+ community as a dependent and a caregiver, and she’ll be able to stay with us through the holidays, but I’m not sure how much longer than that the managers will let her stay. So, I’ve added a little to the goal to help with getting her back on her feet. This brings the total to $3,000.
But every little bit helps! Even if you can only donate a dollar, we’d greatly appreciate it. I’ve set up a GoFundMe account here instead of using Paypal because I’m having trouble getting the Donate button to work right now. I do sell some things on Redbubble here, though I only get around 10%-20% commission. She also has a few things on Ebay over here, though right now she’s spending most of her time trying to get things packed up (I think she’s planning to list more stuff soon, though, including a handmade Nightmare Before Christmas’s Sally-inspired costume).

TEXAS BEWARE OF THIS GUY We’re not sure how often he goes to PetSmart when we aren’t there but he’s been showing up at the adoption days during breakdown when everyone is distracted. He seems to be waiting for someone to unlock a cage and walk away while cleaning. This is the Richardson Petsmart on Preston and Campbell. He did some really strange things the first time and was found with his hands around one cat’s neck, claimed another (very calm) cat scratched him , fixated on another cat and after those odd instanced, they wouldn’t let him see/touch the cat. He began to yell at them and got the manager to make him get the cat out. He realized something was off and said it wasn’t up to him. Took them a while to get him away from that one cat and he then hung around staring at her. Creepy creepy creepy!

I need help. I need so much help right now.
I came home from a long day at work with my sister today to find a red sheet of paper taped to the front of my door. We joked and said ‘oh looks like we’re finally getting evicted.’ So we parked in our driveway and my sister went to check out what the paper actually said.
I’m completely lost right now. Our house is going to be sold at a public affair on September 10th, 2012. I took the paper to my dad, since he’s pretty much the head of the house and the house itself is under his name. When I read it to him, he just shrugged and put the paper aside. My dad suffers from depression and has been unable to work for the past few years and we’ve been scraping by on social security checks the entire time. My sister and I only work part time as per diem employees (meaning we get no benefits and are only scheduled as needed), my mom hasn’t been a part of our lives for a long time now, and my younger sister (age 14) is too young to work.
My dad’s given up but my sister and I won’t go down without a fight. We’re going to go to the ends of the earth to find a way to keeps us and our younger sister in this house.
I’m a very private person and this was one of the most difficult things I’ve had to do in a long time. So please, a signal boost, a dollar, anything to help and you’ll have my eternal gratitude. I can’t lose the house I’ve spent my entire life in.

My current life is rather shitty to say the least. I feel like I’m trapped, powerless and worthless. I live in four walls which never meant ‘home’ to me (actually I’ve never even had my own room), with people who don’t feel like family at all and who suck all the energy out of me. It took me a lot time, courage and effort to finally try to change my situation. Because believe me, it was and still is not easy.
At the end of September I will be moving to another country (why not just another city? Because I want to leave everything far behind me, also in the litteral meaning) and hopefully I will be able to breathe again, to make my life worth living at last. I am a bit afraid - finding any kind of job and an affordable flatshare won’t be easy and I am scared I might fail. Deep inside I am very insecure and my self-esteem is pretty much non-existant. But I know it must be done because what I have now is just biterness, pain and emptiness. I am going to start my life from scratch. Just me and 42kg of luggage the airline allows me to take. I have no idea how I’m gonna do it.
There is one more very prosaic problem - money. The only thing taken care of so far is the plane ticket. After buying that, the rest of my savings will probably allow me to pay one month’s rent (if I am very very lucky). And that’s it. The bad news is that many people want two months rent to be paid in advance (or/and a possible deposit?). And sadly I also have to have money for food…
I’m trying my best to find some money in every possible way, that is why I’ve decided to ask you guys for some help. I feel bad asking, I know I’ve probably done nothing to deserve your help… I wish I was talented so I could just draw/paint/sculpt/make something in any other way in return, but well, I’m a useless human being with no talents. So…

On August 1 2010, my premature baby girl, born nine days earlier, was in the Baptist South N.I.C.U. fighting for her life and I would too be fighting for my life in my own home against an attack from my husband.
My name is Marissa Alexander, I am a mother of three children, but at the present time, I am not able to be with them due to the following circumstances. I am currently sitting in the Pretrial Detention Facility in Jacksonville FL, Duval County awaiting a sentence for three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with no intent to harm. Before my life changed drastically on that August afternoon, I was in the perilous position of leaving an abusive relationship with my husband who has history of violence and documented domestic abuse towards women. Our history included one which required me to place an injunction for protection against violence and was active during the month of August 2010.
In an unprovoked jealous rage, my husband violently confronted me while using the restroom. He assaulted me, shoving, strangling and holding me against my will, preventing me from fleeing all while I begged for him to leave. After a minute or two of trying to escape, I was able to make it to the garage where my truck was parked, but in my haste to leave I realized my keys were missing. I tried to open the garage but there was a mechanical failure. I was unable to leave, trapped in the dark with no way out. For protection against further assault I retrieved my weapon; which is registered and I have a concealed weapon permit. Trapped, no phone, I entered back into my home to either leave through another exit or obtain my cell phone.
He and my two stepsons were supposed to be exiting the house thru the front door, but he didn’t leave. Instead he came into the kitchen that leads to the garage and realized I was unable to leave. Instead of leaving thru the front door where his vehicle was parked outside of the garage, he came into the kitchen by himself. I was terrified from the first encounter and feared he came to do as he had threatened. The weapon was in my right hand down by my side and he yelled, “Bitch I will kill you!”, and charged toward me. In fear and desperate attempt, I lifted my weapon up, turned away and discharged a single shot in the wall up in the ceiling. As I stood my ground it prevented him from doing what he threatened and he ran out of the home. Outside of the home, he contacted the police and falsely reported that I shot at him and his sons. The police arrived and I was taken into custody.

I have a friend in the US Naval Academy (USNA) whose name is Bea (coppercosmonaut). She and I have been close friends for longer than we can remember; she’s an amazing human being in so many ways that I can’t really… put it into words.
(I’m also crazy mad in love with her. We’re homosexual platonic life partners, yeah.)
Point: next year, the USNA kids have this event called the Ring Dance. It’s when people (from her year) get to wear their school rings. There’s a huge prom organized for/around it, and it’s a pretty big deal. It’s like the Nobel Award Ceremony for those students, I shit you not.
And, well, they’re kids, right? So of course, there has to be an annual competition. And we’re talking about a naval academy here; this is a big competition. What’s the goal?
Bring the most famous prom date.
Now, Bea and I are hardcore Supernatural fans. (I mean lol why else would we be on tumblr. jkjk) So, of course, who do you think she want to try and invite? Only the most perfectest man in the universe otherwise known as
OUR ULTRALORD, MISHA COLLINS.
I support her wholeheartedly in this endeavor, and I sincerely believe that this is something that she can accomplish, with a little help and thinking and elbow grease. Thing is, she needs a little help, and that’s where I come in. That’s where you come in, too. We have to get this reblogged everywhere, by every Big Name Fan (BNF) out there, so that the message spreads as much as possible. We have a year, but really, the faster we do this, the better.
Bea’s going to make a video that she’ll try and get to Misha soon, explaining in more detail what the Ring Dance is, and what the competition is in itself. By then, we want to have gotten this message around Tumblr and Twitter as much as possible. We want to build the hype.
Please help Bea feel like a princess. She’s been through a lot of abuse and death and… things that I don’t really want to think about in a general matter.
